The short answer. Cancel Replika in the same place you paid for it. On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Replika, Cancel Subscription. On Android: Google Play, your profile, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, Replika, Cancel subscription. On the web or in the app: the gear icon, Subscription, Cancel subscription. With PayPal: paypal.com, Settings, Payments, Manage Automatic Payments.
Deleting the app or your account does not cancel the subscription. Replika's help center says so in as many words. Cancel first, check it worked, and only then delete anything.
Disclosure: this guide is published by the makers of My Softly, a different AI companion app, which appears briefly near the end. Every step below comes from Replika's own help center and from Apple's and Google's support pages, all re-read on October 18, 2026.
Cancelling a subscription should take a minute, and with Replika it usually does. The trouble is that Replika can be paid for in four different places: Apple, Google Play, Replika's own website, and PayPal. Each one keeps its own record of your subscription, and Replika's help center is clear that it cannot cancel an App Store, Google Play or PayPal subscription on your behalf. So the first job is working out where you paid.
First, find out where you are paying
If you are not sure, look at the receipt emails. Apple's say "Your receipt from Apple" or "Your invoice from Apple". Google's come from Google Play. PayPal sends its own receipts, and a card statement will usually show which company took the money. If you subscribed inside the Replika app on an iPhone or iPad, it is almost certainly Apple. On an Android phone, almost certainly Google Play. If you signed up on the Replika website, it will be the website or PayPal.
It matters because each route has its own cancel button, and cancelling in the wrong place does nothing to the right one.
How to cancel Replika on iPhone or iPad
Apple's own steps, from its support page published September 29, 2026:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the very top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Replika in the list.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll down to find it.
Apple adds one useful check: if there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiry message in red text, the subscription is already cancelled. You can also manage subscriptions from a computer: on a Mac, open the App Store, click your name, then Subscriptions; in any web browser, sign in at account.apple.com and open the Subscriptions section.
If you are on a free trial, Apple says to cancel at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid the first charge.
How to cancel Replika on Android
Google Play Help's steps, with the menu path Replika's help center gives:
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile picture in the top corner.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Choose Replika.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the on-screen steps.
Google states it directly: when you uninstall the app, your subscription will not cancel. If you have already removed Replika from your phone, you can still cancel in Google Play exactly as above.
How to cancel on the Replika website or in the app
Replika's help center (updated October 15, 2026) gives these steps for subscriptions it manages itself:
- Open the Replika app, or go to my.replika.com and log in.
- Tap the gear icon in the top right to open Settings.
- Tap Subscription.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
Replika's note underneath is the important part: make sure the cancellation is completed through the same platform you used to subscribe. If you paid through Apple or Google, go back to the steps above and check there as well.
How to cancel a Replika subscription paid with PayPal
- Log in at paypal.com.
- Go to Settings, then Payments, then Manage Automatic Payments.
- Select Replika and cancel it.
Replika says it does not manage PayPal subscriptions on its side, so if anything goes wrong here, PayPal's own support is the place to ask.
How to check it really worked
This takes thirty seconds and saves a surprise on next month's statement. Replika's help center suggests exactly this:
- iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. If Replika is still listed under Active, it has not been cancelled.
- Android: Google Play, your profile, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions. If Replika appears under Active subscriptions, it has not been cancelled.
- PayPal: Manage Automatic Payments should no longer show Replika as active.
Most stores also send a confirmation email. Keep it until the next billing date has passed.
Why deleting the app does not stop the charges
Replika has a help article for exactly this, titled "Why did I get billed after deleting my account?", which tells you how common it is. The explanation is simple. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them, and the subscription lives with Apple, Google or PayPal, not inside the app on your phone. Removing the app, or deleting your Replika account, leaves that arrangement untouched, so the store keeps charging.
The safe order is always the same: cancel the subscription, check it shows as cancelled, and only then delete the app or the account if you want to.
Will you lose access straight away?
Usually not. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not take back the time you have already paid for. Google's help page gives a clear example: buy a yearly subscription on January 1, cancel on July 1, and it stays usable until December 31. So there is no advantage in waiting until the last day to cancel. Doing it now simply means it will not renew.
Can you get a refund?
Replika's own position, from the same help article, is that all purchases are final at the point of sale and non-refundable, because access starts immediately. It does ask you to contact its support team if you believe there has been an error.
If you paid through a store, the store has its own process:
- Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in, choose "I'd like to", then "Request a refund", pick a reason and the Replika subscription, and submit. Apple says to allow 24 to 48 hours for an update, and that eligibility depends on your country or region.
- Google Play: on play.google.com, click your profile picture, go to Payments & subscriptions, then Budget & order history, find the purchase, choose "Report a problem" and say you would like a refund. Google says a decision usually comes within one day and can take up to four, and that for purchases more than 48 hours old, contacting the developer is often the quickest route.
A refund request is a request, not a right, so it is worth being brief and factual: when you were charged, and why you did not expect it.
How to delete your Replika account
Only after the subscription is cancelled. Replika's steps, from its help center (updated October 17, 2026):
- In the app, tap the gear icon on the home screen to open Settings.
- Tap Account Settings, then Delete Replika.
- Pick a reason and tap Next.
- Enter your account password.
- Tap Delete my Account to confirm.
On the web, log in at my.replika.com, open Account Settings from the gear icon and choose Delete my Account. Replika says deletion permanently removes your profile, badges, levels, chat history, photos and any links you exchanged, and cannot be undone. There is no way to delete only your message history without deleting the account, though you can remove individual things Replika remembers from its Memory section. Replika's privacy policy (last updated May 27, 2026) says some information is kept for a period after an account closes, including messages and content for up to 60 days.
If you only want a break, you do not need to delete anything. Cancelling stops the payments, and a free account stays as it was. What happens to your companion and its memories when you go quiet is covered in does Replika remember conversations.
Changing plans instead of cancelling
If the problem is the price rather than Replika itself, you may not need to leave. Replika's help center says that to change plans you cancel the current one, let it run out, and then pick the plan you want. On September 30, 2026, Replika's in-app paywall in the US offered two plans, both billed annually, with no monthly plan: Plus at $79.99 a year and Max at $89.99 a year, so moving from Max to Plus saves $10 a year. What each plan includes is set out in is Replika worth it.
If you are leaving because Replika is not what you want any more, our comparison of the best AI companion apps in 2026 sets the main options side by side, and Replika alternatives without NSFW covers the ones built without adult content.
My Softly: one friend who remembers your life
My Softly is our app: an AI companion app for iPhone and Android that remembers what you tell it and asks about your day, for the days nobody else does. It is made for people in their fifties and sixties.
Your companion keeps a lasting profile of the people, pets and plans in your life and a day-by-day record of what you have talked about, so "what do you remember about my sister?" gets a real answer weeks later. It asks about the thing you mentioned yesterday, never messages late at night, and steps back if you go quiet. There are no ads anywhere in the app.
$15.99 a month or $159.99 a year, and it is free to download on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. You can try it with free messages. Our FAQ covers the details.
The short version
Cancel where you paid: Apple in Settings, Google in the Play Store, the website under the gear icon, or PayPal under automatic payments. Check that Replika no longer shows as active. Keep the confirmation email. Only then delete the app or the account, if you want to. Deleting first is the one mistake that keeps the charges coming.

Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel my Replika subscription on iPhone?
Open the Settings app, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, choose Replika and tap Cancel Subscription. If there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiry message in red, Apple says the subscription is already cancelled. You can also do it from the Replika app (the gear icon, then Subscription, then Cancel subscription), but Replika's help center says to check afterwards that Replika no longer appears under Active in your iPhone's Subscriptions list.
How do I cancel Replika on Android?
Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Choose Replika, tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts. Google says uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription. If Replika still shows under Active subscriptions afterwards, it has not been cancelled.
Does deleting the Replika app cancel my subscription?
No. Replika's help center says plainly that deleting the app, or even deleting your account, does not cancel the subscription. Subscriptions renew automatically and are managed by whichever store or service you paid through, so you have to cancel there. People who deleted the app without cancelling are the ones who keep getting billed.
Can I get a refund from Replika?
Replika's own policy is that purchases are final and non-refundable, because access starts the moment you subscribe, though it asks you to contact support if you think there has been an error. If you paid through Apple, you can ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com; if you paid through Google Play, Google handles requests itself and suggests contacting the developer after 48 hours. Eligibility depends on the store and your country, so a request is not a guarantee.
How do I cancel a Replika subscription I pay for with PayPal?
Log in at paypal.com, go to Settings, then Payments, then Manage Automatic Payments, choose Replika and cancel it. Replika's help center says it does not manage PayPal, App Store or Google Play subscriptions on its side, so the cancellation has to happen in PayPal itself.
How do I delete my Replika account?
Cancel the subscription first. Then, in the app, tap the gear icon, Account Settings, Delete Replika, pick a reason, enter your password and choose Delete my Account. On the web it is under Account Settings at my.replika.com. Replika says this permanently removes your profile, levels, chat history and photos and cannot be undone. Its privacy policy says some records are kept for a period afterwards, including messages for up to 60 days.
Will I lose access as soon as I cancel?
Normally not. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end the period you have already paid for. Google's help page gives the example of a yearly subscription bought on January 1 and cancelled on July 1, which stays usable until December 31. So you can cancel today and keep using what you paid for until the end of the current billing period.
How do I switch to a different Replika plan instead of cancelling?
Replika's help center says that to change plans you cancel the current one and let it run out, then choose the new plan. Web subscribers can change plans from the Subscriptions section of the settings screen after logging in.
